Continuing from where we left off last week, time to connect these tracks to the other board.
Once again the board is clamped underneath using two G cramps, once perfectly aligned, pilot holes were drilled and then the larger holes for the dowels could be drilled and the male & female dowel pins pressed into position.
Once aligned, the catches go in.
Now we can start laying the tracks right through this section and link up. The outer loop goes in first.
Followed by the inner loop. A scrap (soon to be renovated) coach is used to test the joins.
The plan is to have two, two road engine sheds. There are several places they could go, this looked like the best position. The other will go towards the bottom of the picture, just before the crossing.
The extended road to the turntable, we'll now have to pass through the level crossing, past the sidings and then into the turntable. It'll also add more shunting capabilities.
Next job will be to start work on the upper loop. The five viaducts are painted ready to go in but will need to be raised to meet the current track height. The connections across the boards are smooth and perfectly aligned, let's hope they stay that way!
Some wiring required!
This little lot needs tidying up. Thankfully this can be done at home and doesn't require the boards to be connected together.
Another busy & productive evening!
